This is a research prototype

Second Favorite is a student research project (EMBA team: Jasen, Timothy, Tonya, under The Ones Who Stay). It is not a care provider, medical tool, or live service. Nothing here schedules care, sends texts or emails to your family, or moves money.

The demo stays in your browser

The sample family (Alex, Jamie, Casey), the tasks you take, pass, finish, or mark stuck, your demo nickname, avatar, tone and play mode, local family-room messages/reactions and brief playbook note are saved only in this browser's local storage. They are never sent to our server. “Reset demo” clears demo tasks, nickname, room, playbook and avatar, and restores team-first play. Your separate tone and analytics choices are retained.

Optional analytics and a fresh choice

Only if you choose “Allow optional analytics,” we record first-party study events and use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to measure page visits and selected demo actions and successful inquiries. Earlier study-only permission does not authorize Google Analytics: everyone must make a fresh choice. Google’s script is not loaded and no Google Analytics requests are sent before permission. Declining does not affect the demo, pilot requests, or team requests.

First-party study events

With permission, this browser session gets a random first-party ID and sends short, allowlisted event names (for example “task_opened” with a sample task category) to our study dashboard. We do not include names, emails, or anything you type in these events, and do not store your IP address in the study event table. This study ID is never sent to Google. Audience choices, team/friendly mode choices and shirt/mug concept interest use fixed options only. These descriptive selections are not purchases, care outcomes or A/B results. Funnel counts cover distinct consented sessions only; pilot and institution requests also include people who decline analytics.

Google Analytics cookies and data

Google Analytics uses _ga and _ga_* cookies to recognize browsers and measure visits. Google receives network information such as your IP address to process the request, along with browser/device information and selected usage events. We send only approved public page paths, remove query strings and fragments, and omit referrers. We never send names, emails, free text, health information, task notes, or first-party study session IDs to Google. Demo events are labelled demo; successful real inquiries are labelled inquiry, without their contents. Audience, play mode and merch concept selections contain only fixed choices, never amounts, messages or notes. Advertising signals and personalization are disabled. Google may process data outside your country under its privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). Research and sign-in screens are excluded.

Change your choice or withdraw

Use the controls below or in the footer at any time. Withdrawal stops tracking, removes accessible Google Analytics cookies, and reloads the page to remove Google’s script and listeners. Changing your choice asks again without tracking until you allow it. Withdrawal cannot remove information already received by Google or previously recorded study events. Consent is stored in this browser; clearing browser storage requires a new choice.

Pilot and team requests

If you submit a pilot request, we save your first name, email, role, a contribution category, an optional barrier note, and your permission to contact you. Employer and care-team requests save organization, work email, role, and your description. These are stored securely and readable only by the project owner's verified account. We don't ask for medical information, your parent's name, diagnoses, or records — please don't include them.

“What would stop you?” answers

If you answer the optional research question in the demo, we save the reason you picked and any short note (max 300 characters). Please leave out health details.

Your data questions

There's no self-serve deletion yet. If you submitted a pilot request and want it changed or removed, reply to the research team when they follow up with you by email, and they'll take care of it.
